Over the course of a season, the outdoor condenser coil picks up grass clippings, seed pods, leaves, and general yard debris, all of which block airflow across the fins where heat needs to escape. Our technicians flush the coil from the inside out with a proper coil cleaner and water, straighten any bent fins with a fin comb, and clear out debris that's settled inside the cabinet itself.
Indoors, the evaporator coil quietly accumulates dust, pet hair, and — in more humid conditions — mold or mildew, none of which you'd ever spot without pulling the access panel. A coil in that state chokes airflow, can eventually ice over, and loses much of its ability to pull moisture out of the air. Rather than counting on filter changes alone, we clean this coil directly.
We also inspect and clear the condensate drain line, since algae buildup inside that line is one of the leading causes of AC leaks and unexpected shutdowns, especially in humid weather. A clogged drain can trip the safety float switch and shut the entire unit down even when the coils and compressor are otherwise in good shape.
